Old Fashioned

Wisconsin makes a version with brandy, which is fine. This one is much better. The key to this is muddling the cherries and oranges together until they are almost pulp. Natural sweetness, almost too much bourbon, big ol ice cube, perfection.

Ingredients

  • 1 orange slice
  • 2-3 marashino cherries
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Splash of simple syrup
  • 4-6 count of Bourbon on the sweeter side. Bulleit, Keeper's Heart, etc
  • Orange slice and maraschino cherry (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Muddle orange and cherries with bitters and a splash of water in a lowball glass.
  2. One large ice cube. This will retain your credibility.
  3. Yes, thats a 4-6 count of bourbon. Thats why you only have one or two!
  4. Garnish with orange slice and cherry. I've also really enjoyed a rosemary sprig as a garnish.
