Crispy Thai Basil Chicken Bites

Bite-sized fried chicken tossed in sweet chili sauce with fresh Thai basil. Sweet, tangy, garlicky, with just enough heat.

Ingredients

  • 1½ lbs boneless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • ½ cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • ¼ cup fresh Thai basil leaves
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Heat oil to 350°F in a deep skillet.
  2. Mix flour, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper in one bowl. Whisk egg and milk in another.
  3. Dredge chicken in flour, dip in egg, then back in flour. Let sit 1 minute.
  4. Fry chicken in batches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Mix sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil in a saucepan. Heat 2-3 minutes.
  6. Toss fried chicken with warm glaze and fresh Thai basil. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
