Twinkie Tiramisu

Sounds gimmicky, isnt. Replacing the lady fingers with twinkies makes this recipe uniquely American and indulgent. It really works too. Lady fingers are delicious but have a tendency to dry out. Twinkies prevent this.

Ingredients

  • 10 Twinkies, sliced lengthwise
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 (8 oz) tub Cool Whip or homemade whipped cream w/ a little almond extract
  • 1 1/2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Cocoa powder for dusting
  • Optional: chocolate shavings

Instructions

  1. Whip cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in Cool Whip.
  2. Dip Twinkie halves briefly in coffee and layer in a dish.
  3. Spread cream layer on top. Repeat layers once or twice.
  4. Dust with cocoa. Chill 4 hours or overnight.
  5. Top with chocolate shavings before serving.
