Get Me To Payday Soup
Budget-friendly, filling soup that'll stretch your dollar
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey, or beef. Whatever is cheaper
- 4 large carrots, rough chop
- 8 stalks celery (small), rough chop
- 2 small Spanish onions, rough chop
- 3 cloves garlic, minced, or rough chop
- 4-6 beef/chicken bouillon cubes to taste
- 1-2 packets Sazon (Mexican Num Num Powder) if you can find it
- Black pepper
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 TB Diego Seasoning
- 1 tsp rosemary
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 TB cumin
- 1½ cup rice
- 8 cups water (sub ½ beer)
Instructions
- Brown off turkey w/ Sazon packets, add Mirepoix, sweat off, add then add everything else.
- Wait fifteen, skim dirty foam every fifteen for two hours and then eat like the poor human you are. ENJOY!
Recipe Note:
This soup is pure survival food, and it's damn good. Makes a huge pot that'll feed you for days. The rice makes it super filling and the Sazon adds that perfect flavor kick. This was one of my favorites when I was in my early twenties.
